Hello Kitty, the beloved icon of Sanrio, lives an ordinary life until she receives an ancient picture book that grants her the power to transform into the strawberry-themed superhero Ichigoman. By raising her smartphone into the sky and drawing on the energy of cheering supporters, she calls out Power the Kitty and changes into her heroic form. Her mission is to defend the town from monsters that are born from the wickedness in human hearts, as well as from sinister alien invaders. Despite her grand aspirations, Kitty’s hero work is often low-key and somewhat mundane as she tries to live out her dream of being a protector.

The story expands with a cast of allies and rivals. Dark Grapeman is a fellow superhero who serves as both a rival and occasional partner, while Honey Momo acts as Ichigoman’s secretary and support. An enigmatic woman named Ageha appears and begins to pursue Ichigoman, adding a layer of mystery and complication to Kitty’s double life. The narrative also involves the secret alien countermeasures organization FREEZE, which becomes entangled in Ichigoman’s battles. Over the course of the series, Ichigoman faces a variety of monsters born of malice, deals with everyday challenges of balancing her secret identity, and navigates her relationships with her allies and the suspicious Ageha. The tone blends lighthearted superhero action with the familiar charm of Sanrio’s character universe.
