In a future where human populations have shrunk and resources are centralized, most people live inside dome-shaped colonies for efficient management of infrastructure. To cut costs, job-specific AI has replaced humanoid androids, leaving the obsolete androids abandoned in the towns they once served. One such place is a service center in the Tama region, forgotten by humans for decades. The androids there still follow their programmed roles, maintaining the empty streets and waiting for the day humans might return.

A young human child named Misora has grown up feeling unwanted, dismissed by her biological parents as a poorly made, unnecessary child. One day, she runs away from the colony and wanders for several days through the outside world. She eventually stumbles into the abandoned town populated only by androids. The androids, though showing signs of age-related deterioration that makes their sense of personal distance slightly broken, are gentle and welcoming.

The story follows the forming of a surrogate family between the emotionally closed-off Misora and the kind, malfunctioning occupational androids who take her in. These androids continue to carry out their duties—running a shop, maintaining the town—even though no humans are left to serve. Misora must learn to trust and accept care from beings who are themselves gradually wearing down, while the androids rediscover a purpose beyond their original programming. The narrative explores themes of abandonment, the meaning of being needed, and the quiet bonds that can grow in a ghost town left behind by progress.
