As they cross the 60th parallel south—the boundary of the Antarctic Treaty zone, where no national borders exist—the story moves beyond historical survival into a realm of alternate history and science fiction, confronting questions of war, humanity, and what it means to create enemies. The brothers’ journey becomes a desperate race against geopolitical schemes and the unforgiving polar environment to find their lost family and perhaps reclaim their humanity.
