Description
A talking pug, abandoned in a cardboard box on the banks of the Sumida River in Tokyo's Asakusa district, is rescued by a high school girl named Sally. She names him Doggo, unaware that this seemingly ordinary pug can speak, is highly intelligent, and possesses extraordinary combat skills. Doggo agrees to live as a normal dog, but his new owner is actually the daughter of a yakuza boss, which constantly draws them into violent confrontations with rival gang members, assassins, and other underworld figures. Doggo becomes Sally's fiercely loyal bodyguard, using his strength and resourcefulness to protect her while trying to keep his true nature hidden.
The story follows their turbulent daily life, blending slapstick comedy with action sequences. Sally is a brash but kind-hearted teenager who navigates school and family obligations while being targeted because of her father's position. Doggo speaks in a hard-boiled, old-school yakuza idiom, often making deadpan remarks and referencing pop culture. Their relationship deepens as they face repeated threats, and Doggo's mysterious past—including how he gained his abilities and his connection to a cat-like rival named Nekko—becomes a slowly unfolding narrative thread. Later arcs see Sally and Doggo starting a odd-jobs agency to help people, which brings in new allies and exposes them to bizarre cases, including dealings with a cult. The manga is an ongoing action-comedy that parodies shonen tropes while maintaining a surreal, absurd tone.
