The story follows two unlikely partners: Sakura Chihaya, a young man who lost his right arm in a traffic accident and gained the ability to see spirits—a power called kengi—and Ōnoki Ryūjin, a dogged prefectural government worker abruptly reassigned to the Special Countermeasures Office, a secretive department handling cases that defy rational explanation. Thrown together, the skeptical Ōnoki and the reluctant Chihaya confront a series of bizarre incidents involving haunted antiques, local folklore, and lingering grudges.
