In the year 2024, Earth has been devastated by a cascade of cosmic disasters: the fall of fragments from a black comet, showers of cosmic radiation, and the approach of a mobile black hole. Civilisation has collapsed, and the surviving pockets of humanity are systematically subjugated by a military organisation known as Trader Force, led by the enigmatic woman Queen Photon. Among the survivors is Tetsuro Daiba, an ordinary student living in the Nerima district of Tokyo, trying to rebuild his life after losing his parents in the meteor strike.

One day, a mysterious woman named Mellow appears before Tetsuro in a flash of light. She is an envoy from the distant planet Svan, sent to restore Earth. Mellow reveals that a substance called Danasite, which influences biological evolution on Svan, became entangled with the mobile black hole and was carried to Earth, forming the black comet. Upon impact, it transformed certain humans into Danasighters, beings capable of freely manipulating the time axis of their own DNA, awakening memories and abilities from past, present, and future genetic lineages. Tetsuro is one such individual, and Mellow guides him to unlock these latent powers.

Tetsuro soon finds himself captured by Trader Force and taken aboard one of their fortresses, but he escapes by instinctively piloting a fighter jet, drawing on piloting skills encoded in his DNA memory. During his escape, he is aided by Rei Yuuki, a girl who possesses the same extraordinary abilities and who single-handedly destroys an enemy carrier with a single aircraft. Rei and Tetsuro, along with a telepathic cat named Mi, are the only known survivors of the meteor impact and the only awakened Danasighters. Their powers make them targets of both Trader Force, who seeks to control them, and the mysterious forces behind the destruction of Earth.

As Tetsuro and his companions search for answers, they are brought before Queen Photon, who claims she is trying to protect Earth from the beings that sent the meteor. Her motives remain ambiguous, and the young Danasighters must decide whether to trust her or follow Mellow. Their journey takes them into the Earth's mantle aboard a mysterious spaceship, where they confront Trader Force, encounter bizarre hybrid lifeforms of evolved reptiles and insects, and ultimately face a choice that will decide the future of their kind. The manga traces their struggle to understand their own evolution and whether their new powers offer a path to save a dying world or force them to leave it behind for the unknown depths of space.
