Manga
Description
Five girls are suddenly brought together with one goal: debut as a band. Each of them possesses a spark of genuine talent and individuality, but none of them are remotely ready to function as a unit. The group at the center of this chaos is Mugendai Mewtype, a virtual girls' band defined by the motto "transcend virtual dreams and concrete reality." Their vocalist is Arale Nakamachi, an energetic but deeply insecure girl who carries a secret fear of singing in front of others. Her past haunts her: she was once part of a five-member group called La La La La Girls, where she was framed as the "bad apple" and driven out after a leaked video destroyed her reputation. The experience left her terrified of being in any group and distrustful of the very idea of a band.

The other members are equally unprepared. Lead guitarist Nonoka Miyanaga is bright and friendly but still learning her instrument. Rhythm guitarist Ritsu Minetsuki is clumsy and self-doubting, hiding her own history with Arale and the wounds left by their shared past. Keyboardist Miyako Fuji is composed and gentle, providing a stabilizing presence. DJ and manipulator Yuno Sengoku is sharp and tsundere, handling the electronic backbone of the band's sound since Mugendai Mewtype has no bassist or drummer, relying instead on pre-programmed tracks and Yuno's live mixing.

The story follows this mismatched, inexperienced group as they are pushed into the spotlight whether they are ready or not. They clash, fumble through rehearsals, and struggle to find any chemistry as a band. Their problems are compounded by external pressure: Viola, a member of the rival band Fairy Bouquet, manipulates media coverage and social media to turn public opinion against Mugendai Mewtype. Viola is a skilled manipulator who twists situations to her advantage, playing the victim while sowing discord among the members. Arale in particular bears the brunt of this campaign, as old wounds from the La La La La Girls incident are reopened and weaponized against her.

The narrative unfolds across their journey to survive as a band. Flashbacks reveal the childhood friendship between Arale and Ritsu, the rise and fall of La La La La Girls, and the fractures that Viola exploited to tear that group apart. The central conflict is both internal and external: the members must overcome their personal insecurities and distrust of one another while facing a hostile media landscape and an antagonist who thrives on control and division. The tagline of the series, "Even when the sound stops, fight back," reflects the core struggle of learning to keep going even when everything falls apart. The manga is an adaptation of the BanG Dream! YUME∞MITA anime, written by Kō Nakamura and illustrated by Kuunerin, serialized in Comic Growl starting July 24, 2026.
