In the isolated desert town of Mama Town, where anthropomorphic animals live as the dominant species, a naive high school girl named Mameko shares a close friendship with a shy pig girl named Yulily. They live together in a small house on the outskirts, spending their days in seemingly ordinary youth. But the town’s food supply hides a dark secret: the animals eat “nikushi” — humanoid creatures that look exactly like Mameko. Mameko herself is one of them, a living food source produced to sustain the animal society.

As Mameko and Yulily navigate their relationship, the truth of the town’s system is exposed during the annual Thanksgiving Carnival, a festival that honors the nikushi through mass slaughter. Mameko learns that she was created as food, and that even her bond with Yulily is complicated by the fact that Yulily is a consumer. Yet their feelings for each other remain genuine.

The story escalates when the nikushi rise up in a violent revolution, led in part by a free-spirited, chaotic nikushi girl who delights in turning the world upside down. Mameko and Yulily are caught in the conflict, their friendship tested by the brutal reality of predator and prey. In the climax, with the revolution nearly victorious, Mameko makes a sacrificial choice: she throws herself into the town’s waste‑recycling system to break the cycle of consumption and save the world.
