Description
"Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead" centers on Akira Tendo, a 24-year-old office worker trapped in a soul-crushing corporate job. His life is monotonous and devoid of joy, with long hours, an abusive boss, and a lack of personal fulfillment. However, everything changes when a sudden zombie apocalypse erupts, plunging society into chaos. Instead of despairing, Akira finds an unexpected sense of liberation. With the collapse of societal norms and the end of his oppressive work life, he decides to embrace his newfound freedom by creating a bucket list of 100 things he wants to do before becoming a zombie.
The narrative follows Akira as he navigates the post-apocalyptic world, pursuing his list with a mix of humor, determination, and occasional peril. His goals range from the whimsical, like riding a roller coaster or finding love, to the deeply personal, such as reconnecting with old friends and rediscovering his passions. Along the way, he encounters other survivors, including Shizuka Mikazuki, a pragmatic and resourceful woman who becomes a key ally, and Kencho, his former coworker and friend. Together, they face the dangers of the zombie-infested world while striving to achieve Akira’s goals.
The series balances dark humor with moments of introspection, exploring themes of existentialism, personal freedom, and the pursuit of happiness. Akira’s journey is as much about self-discovery as it is about survival, as he learns to prioritize his own desires and dreams in a world where the old rules no longer apply. The zombies serve as both a literal threat and a metaphor for the societal pressures that once stifled him, making the apocalypse a bizarre yet transformative opportunity for growth. Through its unique premise and character-driven storytelling, "Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead" offers a fresh take on the zombie genre, blending action, comedy, and heartfelt moments.
