Description
"Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!" is a manga adaptation of the light novel series written by FUNA and illustrated by Itsuki Akata. The story centers on Misato Kurihara, a brilliant and overachieving girl who, after dying in a tragic accident, is reincarnated into a fantasy world. In her previous life, Misato struggled with the loneliness and alienation caused by her extraordinary intelligence, which set her apart from her peers. Upon being reborn as Adele von Ascham, she requests that her new life be one of average abilities, hoping to live a more balanced and fulfilling existence.
However, the divine being responsible for her reincarnation misinterprets her request. Instead of granting her average abilities, Adele is given powers that are the mathematical average of the strongest and weakest beings in the world. This results in her possessing immense magical and physical capabilities, far exceeding those of ordinary people. Despite her desire for a normal life, Adele’s extraordinary abilities continually thrust her into extraordinary situations.
Adele joins the Hunters’ Guild and forms a party with three other girls: Reina, a noble with a strong sense of justice; Pauline, a shy and reserved mage; and Mavis, a cheerful and energetic swordswoman. Together, they embark on various adventures, taking on quests and encountering challenges that test their skills and camaraderie. Adele’s overwhelming power often leads to humorous and unexpected outcomes, as she struggles to maintain the semblance of an average life while inadvertently achieving feats that defy logic.
The narrative explores themes of friendship, self-discovery, and the pursuit of balance. Adele’s interactions with her party members and the world around her highlight her growth as she learns to navigate her new life. The series blends elements of fantasy, adventure, and comedy, with a focus on the dynamics between the characters and their shared experiences. The manga adaptation faithfully captures the lighthearted tone and episodic structure of the original light novels, presenting a story that balances action, humor, and heartfelt moments.
