Description
"Maria the Virgin Witch" is set during the Hundred Years' War between England and France, blending historical elements with fantasy and supernatural themes. The protagonist, Maria, is a powerful witch who lives in a secluded forest with her familiars, a succubus named Artemis and an incubus named Priapos. Despite her immense magical abilities, Maria is a pacifist who despises the violence and suffering caused by the war. She frequently intervenes in battles, using her magic to stop conflicts and protect innocent lives. Her actions, however, draw the ire of both human armies and divine forces, as her interference disrupts the natural order.

The story explores the tension between free will and divine intervention. Heaven, represented by the archangel Michael, views Maria's meddling as a violation of divine law. Michael warns her to cease her interference, threatening severe consequences if she continues. Maria, however, remains defiant, believing that her actions are just and necessary to prevent unnecessary bloodshed. Her resolve is tested when she encounters Joseph, a young squire who becomes entangled in her life. Joseph is initially skeptical of Maria's powers but gradually develops a deep respect for her ideals and courage. Their relationship evolves into a central focus of the narrative, with Joseph serving as a grounding influence on Maria.

As the story progresses, Maria's defiance of Heaven escalates, leading to direct confrontations with divine forces. The archangel Ezekiel is sent to punish her, but Maria's determination and resourcefulness allow her to hold her own. The series delves into themes of morality, the consequences of wielding power, and the complexities of human nature. Maria's character is portrayed as both compassionate and flawed, as her actions, while well-intentioned, often have unintended repercussions.

The supporting cast includes a variety of historical and supernatural figures, such as Galfa, a mercenary who becomes an ally to Maria, and Bernard, a priest who struggles with his faith in the face of Maria's miracles. The series also incorporates elements of medieval life, depicting the harsh realities of war and the societal structures of the time. The blend of historical accuracy and fantastical elements creates a unique narrative that examines the impact of power and the struggle for peace in a world dominated by conflict.
