Description
"Mortal Metal" is a manga series set in a dystopian future where humanity is on the brink of extinction due to a catastrophic event known as the Great Collapse. The world is overrun by biomechanical creatures called Revenants, which are remnants of advanced technology gone rogue. These creatures hunt humans relentlessly, forcing survivors to live in fortified cities or nomadic tribes. The story centers on Kael, a young scavenger with a mysterious past, who discovers a rare and powerful artifact known as the Mortal Core. This device, when activated, grants its user immense power but at the cost of their humanity, as it gradually transforms them into a Revenant.

Kael’s discovery of the Mortal Core draws the attention of both human factions and Revenant hordes. The human factions, divided into the militaristic Iron Dominion and the resourceful Freeborn Collective, seek to control the Core for their own survival. The Iron Dominion views it as a weapon to eradicate the Revenants, while the Freeborn Collective believes it holds the key to restoring the world. Kael, caught in the middle, must navigate alliances and betrayals while grappling with the Core’s corrupting influence. Along the way, he is joined by a diverse group of allies, including Lyra, a skilled mechanic with a tragic past, and Dax, a former Dominion soldier turned rogue.

As Kael delves deeper into the origins of the Mortal Core, he uncovers a hidden truth about the Great Collapse and the Revenants. The Core is revealed to be a fragment of a larger system created by an ancient civilization to control the balance between humanity and technology. The Revenants, once guardians of this system, were corrupted by a catastrophic malfunction. Kael’s journey becomes a race against time to prevent the Core from falling into the wrong hands and to uncover a way to restore the world without sacrificing his humanity. The series explores themes of survival, identity, and the consequences of technological advancement, set against a backdrop of intense action and moral ambiguity.
