Thierry Redler was a French actor, director, and screenwriter whose career spanned from the late 1970s to the early 2010s. While he was widely recognized in France for his roles in live-action television series and his work in theatre, he also contributed significantly to the French dubbing industry, providing voices for numerous animated series and films. Born in Paris on February 22, 1958, Redler initially trained in dance and martial arts, studying under the dancer Guillermo Palomares, before being discovered for his first acting role at the age of seventeen. This led him to pursue acting professionally, taking theatre courses from prominent figures of the Comédie-Française.

In the 1980s, Redler became a familiar face on French television, both as a host for the program Salut les Mickey and as an actor in series like Les Nouveaux Chevaliers du ciel. He gained widespread popularity in the 1990s for his roles in sitcoms produced by AB Productions, most notably as Marc Malloy in Les Filles d'à côté and its sequel Les Nouvelles Filles d'à côté. Throughout his career, Redler also remained active in theatre, performing in numerous productions and writing his own plays, some of which starred his children.

Redler's voice acting work brought him to a different audience, lending his talents to the French adaptations of popular anime. He was particularly active in the dubbing of several major series. He is credited as the first French voice for the character Jim in the series High School! Kimengumi, also known as Le Collège fou, fou, fou. He performed the role of Dan for the same series. In the fantasy series Tenkū Senki Shurato, he voiced both the titular protagonist, Shurato, and the character Dannoc, showcasing his vocal range. His involvement in anime dubbing extended to the Dragon Ball franchise, where he provided the voice for the adult Son Goku in the first ten episodes of Dragon Ball Z. He also voiced the legendary Super Saiyan Broly in the French versions of the movies Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan and Dragon Ball Z: Bio-Broly. His work in the Dragon Ball universe continued with Dragon Ball GT, where he voiced several characters including the main antagonist Baby. Beyond these prominent roles, his dubbing credits included the series Paris no Isabelle, where he voiced Jean Clément, and Idol Densetsu Eriko, where he provided replacement voice work for the character Mr. Henry. Thierry Redler passed away on July 26, 2014, in La Rochelle, France, leaving behind a diverse body of work in French film, television, and animation.
