Merete Brettschneider is a German actress and voice artist, known for providing the German-language voices for numerous characters in anime series and films. Born in Hamburg in 1974, she initially studied graphic design before pursuing a career in acting, gaining her first experience through minor roles in television. Her entry into voice acting came after she recorded demo files in a home studio, which led to her successful application with various agencies.

Brettschneider's voice acting career began with background dialogue, but her first major role was providing the German voice for Temari in the anime series Naruto. She continued voicing this character in its sequel, Naruto Shippuden, as well as in related movies and the spin-off series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. This role established her as a recognizable voice within the German anime dubbing community.

Her extensive work in anime includes several of the roles mentioned. She voices Izanami in B: The Beginning, Mizuki Shibata in The Irregular at Magic High School and its film The Movie: The Girl Who Summons the Stars, Haruki Sagae in Riddle Story of Devil, and Mitsuki Nase in Beyond the Boundary. Her other notable anime credits include Sumika Warakubami in Kakegurui, Matsuki Akino in the film Okko's Inn, Lenalee Lee in D.Gray-Man, Tomone in Noragami, and Gabriel in Rage of Bahamut: Genesis.

While her work in anime is extensive, Brettschneider is also widely recognized for her live-action dubbing. She is the official German voice for actress Melissa Benoist, best known for her role as Kara Danvers in the television series Supergirl, as well as its appearances in other series like Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. Her dubbing portfolio also includes providing German voices for actresses such as Shiri Appleby, Greta Gerwig, and Italia Ricci.

In addition to on-screen work, Brettschneider is a prolific voice artist for audio plays and audiobooks. She has a long-standing role as Marie, one of the three main characters, in the popular German audio play series Die drei!!!. Her audiobook narration is varied, including the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, the Dark Elements series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and the Die 5. Welle series by Rick Yancey. She also voices multiple characters, Lucy and Lisa Loud, in the animated series Willkommen bei den Louds.
