Ayu Matsuura is a Japanese voice actress and former child actress who was born on June 3, 2001, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. She began her career in entertainment at a very young age, enrolling in the Theatre Academy talent agency in August 2002 when she was just over one year old. Her early work consisted primarily of live-action television and film roles, where she often portrayed characters as children or the younger versions of main characters.

Matsuura made the transition to voice acting around 2010. Her first major voice role was providing the voice for Jackie, the protagonist in the 2010 animated film The Bears' School: Jackie and Katie, which is based on a popular picture book series. She gained significant recognition and critical acclaim in 2011 for her performance as the main character Rin Kaga in the television anime series Usagi Drop (also known as White Rabbit Drop). At only nine years old, her natural and heartfelt performance was praised by audiences and media, establishing her as a promising new talent in the voice acting industry.

Following her debut, Matsuura has continued to build a diverse portfolio of voice roles in both anime series and films. She voiced the character Fūka Aoshima in the series Sakura Kakumei ~Hana Saku Otome-tachi~, as listed among her representative works. In 2018, she took on the role of Rita Bernal, the enigmatic pilot of the Unicorn Gundam Unit 3 Phenex, in the feature film Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative. Her work in the long-running Gundam franchise brought her to a wider audience. In a 2023 revival of the comedy anime Zenryoku Usagi, she was cast as the character Trainee, voicing one of the hardworking construction worker rabbits. Her other voice acting credits include roles in series such as Eureka Seven AO, Go! Princess Precure, and Heavenly Delusion.

Throughout her career, Matsuura has also demonstrated her versatility by working in other areas of the entertainment industry. She has sung theme songs for anime, notably for the NHK historical drama Taira no Kiyomori. Her skills also extend to dubbing foreign films into Japanese, with credits including Maleficent and Tomorrowland. In April 2022, she moved her agency affiliation to At Production, marking a new chapter in her professional career. Her known special skills include playing the piano, swimming, and bouldering.
