An early role was in the 1999 television anime series "Sorcerous Stabber Orphen," where he voiced a character. In the same year, he was part of the cast for the anime "Seraphim Call". His work in the late 1990s and early 2000s also included roles in "Seihō Tenshi Angel Rinks" and "Jibaku-kun". For the 1999 film "There's Something About Mary," he contributed to the Japanese dub.

A significant and prominent role in Tsuchiya's career is that of Mash, one of the Black Tri-Stars, in the "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin" series.
