Lia Mello

Description
Lia Mello is a Brazilian voice actress, translator, and localization director, recognized for her work in dubbing animation, live-action series, and video games into Brazilian Portuguese. Her career encompasses both performing voices for characters and adapting scripts, with a particular focus on the localization of games.

Mello began her journey toward voice acting after moving from Presidente Prudente, a city in the interior of São Paulo, to São Paulo itself. While her initial ambition was to be an actress, she first studied advertising before finding her way into a dubbing studio. She started with an internship at the TV Group studio and began receiving small roles. A pivotal moment came when she offered her services as a translator to voice director Alessandra Araújo, despite having no professional translation experience, leveraging her extensive English language studies. This initiative led to consistent work in translation, which runs parallel to her acting career. She works as a dubbing actress, a dubbing producer, and a game localization director.

Among her most prominent voice roles is Kiriko, a new heroine in the popular team-based game Overwatch 2. Mello has spoken about the personal significance of this role, noting her long-standing interest in Japanese culture and her studies of the Japanese language, which allowed her to record the character's Japanese-language lines for the Brazilian Portuguese version. Another significant role in the gaming world is Qiyana in League of Legends.

Her work spans major franchises across different media. In animation and live-action series, she is the voice of Gina Porter in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and Kate Bishop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series Hawkeye. She also voiced the character Uma in the Disney Channel original movies Descendents 2 and Descendents 3. In the realm of television drama, she provided the second voice for the character Enid in the series The Walking Dead. Her work in video games also includes voicing the droid K-2SO in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Early in her career, she was also credited for additional voices in the animated film Wifi Ralph: Quebrando a Internet.

Beyond her on-screen roles, Mello has an extensive career in translation for dubbing. Her translation credits, also primarily with TV Group Brasil, include work on films such as Red: Crescer é uma Fera and Mundo Estranho. She has also contributed to the voice direction and localization of games, a field she actively works in alongside her dubbing commitments.
