Sonia Scotti is an esteemed Italian voice actor and dubbing director with a prolific career spanning several decades, renowned for her distinctive character voice. Born into a family of actors, she began her career in entertainment as a child performer, appearing in films such as Luchino Visconti's Bellissima in 1951. She started dubbing at a young age and spent part of her early career in Argentina, where she also worked as a singer and showgirl.

Scotti is highly regarded for her extensive voice work in anime and animated films. Among her notable roles in Japanese animation, she voiced the powerful twins Yubaba and Zeniba in the Italian editions of Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away. She also took on the role of the airship pirate Captain Dola in another Miyazaki classic, Castle in the Sky. In the world of space opera, she provided the voice for Nova Forester, known as Yuki Mori, in the series Star Blazers: The Comet Empire. Her repertoire extends to fantasy and magical girl genres, where she voiced Rem in Death Note, Zirconia in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal, and multiple characters in the Tamagotchi franchise, including Makiko and Mamamametchi in Tamagotchi the Movie. She also voiced the character Kum Kum in the series Wanpaku Omukashi Kumu Kumu.

Beyond anime, Scotti's voice is widely recognized by Italian audiences for her long association with major Hollywood actresses. She is the primary Italian voice for Whoopi Goldberg in the majority of her film appearances, as well as for Glenn Close and Judi Dench. In Disney animation, she has lent her voice to iconic characters such as the villainess Ursula in The Little Mermaid and Kala in Tarzan. Since the 23rd season, she has also been the voice of Marge Simpson in the long-running series The Simpsons.

Her significant contributions to the field of dubbing have been recognized with several awards. Notably, in July 2013, she received the Leggio d'oro award for Female Voice of the Year. She has also won the Premio Voci nell'Ombra and received a career award at the Romics comic convention.
