Hirokazu Hiramatsu

Description
Hirokazu Hiramatsu is a Japanese voice actor born on February 29, 1960, in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. He is affiliated with the talent agency GadgetLink. Hiramatsu began his career in the early 1980s, with his debut role being a high school student in the 1982 anime "Ai no Senshi Rainbowman". His first major leading role came in 1984 when he was cast as Daba Myroad, the protagonist of the Sunrise mecha anime series Heavy Metal L-Gaim. This character, a prince seeking to restore his clan and defeat an immortal emperor, became a defining role for Hiramatsu and one with which he remains closely associated. He would reprise the role of Daba Myroad numerous times over the following decades, particularly in video games such as the Super Robot Wars series, Another Century's Episode, and Sunrise Eiyūtan.

In the early 1990s, Hiramatsu took on the role of Kenji Asada in the 1991 original video animation Burn Up!. During the mid-1990s and late 1990s, his visibility in anime productions decreased, as he focused on stage acting and work as an instructor at a voice actor training school. His career in anime saw a significant resurgence in the mid-2000s. He began appearing in several popular series produced by Kyoto Animation, starting with a role as Eijirō Ōmori in the 2006 series The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, a role he later reprised in the 2009 version. This was followed by the role of Sōjirō Izumi, the father of the main character, in the 2007 hit series Lucky Star. His work in Kyoto Animation productions continued with a role as Shigeru Hidaka in the 2009 series Sora o Miageru Shōjo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai (Munto) and as the voice of Mr. Nakanojō in the 2011 surreal comedy Nichijou.

Throughout the 2010s, Hiramatsu maintained a steady career in supporting and guest roles. Notable appearances from this period include the role of Karyuudo Tsukishima, the 10th, in the 2011 series The Future Diary; Gil Brand in the 2013 series I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job; and Casey in the 2014 series Tokyo ESP. He also continued to work in other media, including voice acting for video games and drama CDs, as well as occasional appearances in tokusatsu productions such as Kamen Rider Ryuki. In addition to his performance work, Hiramatsu has been active as a lecturer, teaching at a voice actor training course, where he was an instructor to voice actress Minori Chihara. His career is also noted for his ongoing association with the role of Daba Myroad, which he has voiced in various media for over three decades, including the 2021 game Super Robot Wars 30.
