Description
"Big Order" is a 10-episode anime series based on the manga by Sakae Esuno. The story is set in a world where individuals known as "Order Users" possess supernatural abilities granted by mysterious entities. These powers, referred to as "Orders," allow users to manipulate reality in various ways, but they come with significant consequences, often tied to the user's desires or emotional state.
The protagonist, Eiji Hoshimiya, is a high school student who harbors a dark secret: ten years prior, he inadvertently caused a catastrophic earthquake that devastated Japan. This event was the result of his Order, which he used to wish for the destruction of the world. Eiji's power is tied to his subconscious desires, making it both potent and unpredictable. After the disaster, he vowed never to use his Order again and sought to live a quiet life. However, his peaceful existence is disrupted when he encounters Rin Kurenai, a girl with her own Order who seeks to recruit him for a mysterious organization.
As the story unfolds, Eiji becomes entangled in a complex web of alliances and conflicts involving other Order Users. Each user's abilities are unique, ranging from mind control to time manipulation, and their motivations vary widely. Some seek to reshape the world according to their ideals, while others aim to exploit their powers for personal gain. Eiji's journey is marked by his struggle to control his own Order while navigating the moral dilemmas posed by the actions of others.
The narrative explores themes of power, responsibility, and the consequences of unchecked desires. Eiji's relationships with other characters, particularly Rin and his childhood friend Sena Hoshimiya, play a central role in the story. Sena, who also possesses an Order, becomes a key figure in the conflict, as her abilities and loyalty are tested. The series builds toward a climactic confrontation involving multiple factions of Order Users, each vying for control over the world's fate.
"Big Order" combines elements of action, drama, and psychological intrigue, with a focus on the moral and ethical implications of wielding immense power. The story's pacing and character development are central to its exploration of how individuals cope with the burdens of their abilities and the choices they make in pursuit of their goals.
