Azusa Tadokoro

Description
Azusa Tadokoro is a Japanese voice actress and singer born on November 10, 1993, in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture. She is affiliated with the talent agency HoriPro International and the record label Lantis.

Her path to becoming a voice actress began in middle school after watching the anime Inuyasha, where she was inspired by the performance of Akiko Yajima, the voice of the character Kohaku. In 2011, she took a significant step by participating in the 36th Horipro Talent Scout Caravan, a large-scale audition sponsored by her future agency. Despite her inexperience—she was noted to be nervous, looked around anxiously, and even hit herself on the head with a microphone while singing—she was declared the winner of the Grand Prix. The selection committee was reportedly looking for potential and a sincere personality over refined skills, and they saw that in her. This victory led to her contract with Horipro and her decision to also debut as a singer with Lantis. She made her voice acting debut in 2012, voicing a character in a commercial for SSK Foods.

Tadokoro's first major anime role came later in 2012 when she was cast as Aoi Kiriya in the long-running idol franchise Aikatsu!. This marked the beginning of a recurring association with the series, as she would later voice Yuzu Nikaido in Aikatsu Stars! and Karen Kamishiro in Aikatsu Friends!.

Another pivotal role in her early career was being cast as Shizuka Mogami in the mobile game The Idolmaster Million Live! in 2013. This role in the immensely popular Idolmaster franchise became a cornerstone of her career, leading to numerous performances in games, concerts, and events. Her portrayal of the cool and reserved Shizuka allowed her to showcase her singing abilities, which have been praised by colleagues for their power and stability. In 2014, she voiced Fino Bloodstone in the fantasy comedy I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job and Kotori Takatori in the science fiction series Brynhildr in the Darkness, for which she also performed an ending theme song with her co-stars.

While continuing to build her resume with supporting roles in series like Sound! Euphonium (as Azusa Sasaki) and Myriad Colors Phantom World (as Ruru, also performing an ending theme), her career reached a new height in 2017 with the lead role of Chtholly Nota Seniorious in the fantasy drama WorldEnd. Her performance as the tragic heroine was a breakout moment, and she also performed the anime's opening theme song, DEAREST DROP. The following year, she took on another emotionally complex role as Moroha, the half-demon daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, in the sequel series Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, a role that connected back to the series that first inspired her. She also began voicing the popular character Texas in the Arknights franchise that year.

In addition to lead roles, Tadokoro has become a prominent voice in major multimedia franchises. She voices Symboli Rudolf in the hit horse-girl sports series Uma Musume Pretty Derby and the elegant Kaoru Seta in the BanG Dream! music franchise, a role she has reprised across multiple anime shorts and films. Her filmography also includes a wide array of other characters, such as the surreal Pipimi in Pop Team Epic, Koito Nagase in Wonder Egg Priority, a young Ryoma in By the Grace of the Gods, Mei in SSSS.Dynazenon, and Caerina in In the Land of Leadale. She also voices Haruna Kurodate in the Blue Archive: 1.5th Anniversary Short Animation. In 2023, she voiced Itsuki in Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari, and her schedule included upcoming roles in 2025 for the anime adaptation of City the Animation as Eri Amakazari and as Symboli Rudolf in Uma Musume Cinderella Gray.

Parallel to her voice acting, Tadokoro has maintained a successful career as a singer. She made her major debut in 2014 with the album Beyond Myself!, which peaked at number 33 on the Oricon weekly charts. Since then, she has released numerous singles and albums. Many of her singles have been used as theme songs for anime in which she also stars, including Junshin Always for Myriad Colors Phantom World, 1HOPE SNIPER and Unmei Dilemma for Trickster, and Little Soldier for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, in which she also voices the character Chloe. A 10th anniversary best-of album was scheduled for release on July 30, 2025.
