Maria Yamamoto is a Japanese voice actress, singer, and scriptwriter born on September 11, 1981, in Tokyo. She is affiliated with the talent agency 81 Produce. Inspired to pursue voice acting by the anime Sailor Moon during her middle school years, she attended the Japan Narration Actor Institute to begin her training. She made her debut as a voice actress in 1998.
Yamamoto has built a diverse career with numerous voice roles across anime, video games, and original video animations (OVAs). In her debut year, she voiced Kano Miyazawa in the television anime His and Her Circumstances. She has since taken on a wide variety of parts, including the lead role of Yucie in Petite Princess Yucie and Cyberdoll May in Hand Maid May. In the OVA series Amazing Nurse Nanako, she played Nanako Shichigusa. She is also known for her role as Kuiru in Yami to Bōshi to Hon no Tabibito and as Tsubomi, the titular character, in Papillon Rose. Her video game roles are extensive, with one of her most prominent being Ayaka Hizuki in the acclaimed Memories Off series. She also voiced Emma Emmerich in the Japanese version of the video game Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. In the long-running anime Black Butler, she provided the voice for Meena, and she also played the role of Hibari in Touka Gettan. Further demonstrating her range, her filmography includes Amane Oohara in Lovege Chu - Miracle Seiyū Hakusho, Natsumi Hirakawa in the Kyo no Gononi OVAs, Chitose in Magical Meow Meow Taruto, Aya Kureha in Guardian Hearts Power Up!, and Meg Shion in Kuromajyo-san ga Tōru!!. She also voiced Ayaka Matsukawa in the Memories Off series, a role closely tied to her character Ayaka Hizuki, as well as Kemeko and Sayuri in Hana no Zundamaru.
