Kengo Kōra

Description
Kengo Kora is a Japanese actor who has provided voice work for characters in animated films. His career in the entertainment industry began in 2005, and he has since built a extensive filmography primarily known for his roles in live-action cinema and television. Among his credits in animation, he is recognized for voicing characters in two notable feature films.

Kora voiced the character Sutemaru in the 2013 Studio Ghibli film The Tale of the Princess Kaguya. Directed by Isao Takahata, the film is based on the Japanese folktale The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. Sutemaru is a childhood friend of the titular princess from her early days in a rural village and shares a significant, poignant connection with her as the story unfolds. This role placed Kora's voice among a cast that included Aki Asakura as the princess.

Two years later, Kora took on another role in a historically themed animated feature. In 2015, he voiced the character Utagawa Kuninao in the film Miss Hokusai. This movie is a biographical portrait of the famed ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai, told from the perspective of his daughter, O-Ei.

Beyond these two prominent roles, Kora's voice acting work also includes the character Mukuo Tsumura in the 2018 film Natsume's Book of Friends Movie. While voice acting is a part of his broader career, the majority of his performances and critical recognition have come from his work in live-action. Over the years, he has received several accolades for his live-action performances, including the Yujiro Ishihara Newcomer Award from the Nikkan Sports Film Award and the Newcomer of the Year award at the Japan Academy Film Prize.
