Anne Rondeleux

Description
Anne Rondeleux is a French actress, voice actress, and dialogue director who has been active in the entertainment industry since the late 1970s. She is widely recognized for her extensive work in the dubbing of foreign films and television series into French, becoming a familiar voice to French audiences, particularly through her long-term association with several prominent American actresses.

Rondeleux began her career with training in theater under Jacques Baillon and appeared in French television dramas and miniseries between 1979 and 1985, such as "Des grives aux loups". She also briefly ventured into music, releasing a single titled "Poupée gonflante" in 1987. However, she eventually focused primarily on dubbing, a field in which she has built a prolific and enduring career. In addition to her voice work, she has also worked as a dialogue director, notably on the animated series Archer.

In the realm of anime and animated series, Rondeleux has voiced a wide array of characters, becoming a staple voice in French-dubbed versions of many series broadcast during the 1990s. Some of her most noted anime roles include the lead character Tony, the aspiring journalist Antoinette Dubois, in the 1989 Italian-Japanese series Reporter Blues. She also played Émilie Lambert in the anime adaptation of Dear Brother (Très cher frère) and Nathalie Minel in Nozomi in the Sun (Nathalie et ses Amis).

Her portfolio in animation is diverse and extensive. She is known for being the second voice of Laura Marconi in the French version of City Hunter (Nicky Larson), a role she has reprised in subsequent specials and the 2023 film City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust. Other significant roles include Élodie in Patlabor, Paï in 3x3 Eyes, Sarah in Dancougar, and various characters in the Vandread series. In more recent years, her voice work has encompassed American animation, such as providing the French voice for Lana Kane in the long-running series Archer and appearing in the film When Marnie Was There (Souvenirs de Marnie) as the mother of Marnie.

While her work in anime is substantial, a major and defining part of Rondeleux's career is her regular dubbing of live-action actresses. She is perhaps best known as the official French voice of Shannen Doherty, whom she dubbed in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed, a role that created a strong connection with French viewers. Her other frequent dubbing subjects include Yasmine Bleeth in Baywatch (Alerte à Malibu), Olivia Williams, Mädchen Amick, and Charlotte Ross, among many others. This extensive body of work in live-action dubbing runs parallel to her animation roles, showcasing her versatility and consistent presence in French media.

Rondeleux has maintained a connection to theater throughout her career, both as a performer and, in recent years, as a stage director and artistic collaborator. Notably, she is married to Edgar Givry, another prominent figure in French dubbing, and they have collaborated on theatrical projects.
