Yoshikazu Hirano

Yoshikazu Hirano is a Japanese former voice actor known for his work in anime during the 1980s. He was born on December 26, 1959, in Tokyo Prefecture, Japan. Hirano's career was active during a vibrant period for anime, and he contributed voices to a variety of science fiction and sports-themed series and films.

One of his earliest and most notable roles was as Jiro Yamanaka in the anime adaptations of Mitsuru Adachi's baseball manga Nine. He first voiced the character in the 1983 theatrical film Nine: Original-ban and continued the role in its sequel, the 1983 television special Nine 2: Koibito Sengen. That same year, he took on the lead role of Isamu Napoto in the 1983 science fiction series Psycho Armor Govarian. Isamu is a psychic teenager chosen to pilot a powerful suit of armor to defend Earth from an alien invasion.

Hirano's voice work in the mid-1980s also included roles in popular franchises. In the 1984 science fiction series The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, he provided the voice for the character Seyfried Weiss. He also contributed to the Captain Tsubasa film series, voicing Hiroshi Jitou in the 1986 films Captain Tsubasa: Ayaushi! Zen Nihon Jr. and Captain Tsubasa: Sekai Daikessen!! Jr. World Cup. The following year, he had a role in the 1987 film Bats & Terry. In 1989, he voiced the Autobot Dashtacker in the Japanese-exclusive Transformers series, Transformers: Victory.

After his work in anime, Hirano transitioned away from voice acting to pursue a career in live television, where he worked as a host, narrator, and producer.
