Description
Mika Ishibashi is a Japanese voice actress from Hiroshima Prefecture, born on August 25. Her entry into the voice acting profession was unplanned, occurring after she noticed a flyer for a voice acting school following her high school graduation. She trained as a member of the 5th class of the Free Atom group and began her career in 1996 with small roles in series such as Mizuiro Jidai and Rurouni Kenshin. Over the course of her career, she has been affiliated with several agencies, including Bring Up, Group Impact, and Aoni Production, which she was a part of from July 2012 to 2017. As of her more recent professional activity, she works as a freelancer and has also been an active member of the Alter Ego theater company.
Ishibashi is known for a wide variety of roles, often voicing non-human characters, creatures, and young boys. In the late 1990s, she took on more prominent roles, including Stampy, a timid rabbit scout, in the anime Chō Seimeitai Transformers: Beast Wars Neo. She also voiced the energetic Peppercat in the Medarot (Medabots) anime series and its sequel, Medarot Damashii.
Ishibashi has a long-standing and recurring association with the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. She is perhaps best known for voicing the mischievous Kuriboh and its various forms across multiple series, including Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds. Another notable role within this franchise is that of Pharaoh, the cat owned by Professor Lyman Banner, in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, a role she also reprised for the film Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D: Bonds Beyond Time. She also provided her voice for the character Tachiji in the 2005 short CG anime film Kakurenbo: Hide & Seek.
