Takanobu Hozumi was a Japanese actor and voice actor born on July 20, 1931, in Ohito, Shizuoka Prefecture. His birth name was Takanobu Suzuki. He was affiliated with the talent agency Mausu Promotion at the time of his death on October 19, 2018, from gallbladder cancer at the age of 87.

Hozumi began his entertainment career in the 1950s, initially appearing in live-action films and television dramas. He frequently played supporting roles and was often cast as villains in period dramas and crime thrillers. In 1978, he expanded his career to include voice acting, lending his talents to anime and dubbing foreign films and television series. Beyond acting, Hozumi was also an author. In 1982, he published a book titled "The Crumbling Blocks," a chronicle of family strife that became a bestseller in Japan, selling millions of copies and sparking widespread social discussion.

Throughout his voice acting career, Hozumi took on a variety of roles in anime. Some of his notable performances include Kafu in the 1983 theatrical film Harmagedon, Dr. Von Reichter in the television animation Cybersix, and Neguroponty in the OVA series Legend of the Galactic Heroes. In the 2005 anime series Lupin III: Angel Tactics, he provided the voice for two characters: Chen Huan-chai and Chingensai. He also voiced the character Yuzo Kobayashi in the 1984 work ESPer Mami: Hoshizora no Dancing Doll. In the early 2000s, he had roles in several Doraemon films, including Doraemon: Nobita and the Robot Kingdom as Dr. Chapeck and Doraemon: Nobita and the Wind Wizard as the Elder of the Wind Village. He also voiced Toshiro Kurisu in WXIII: Patlabor the Movie 3.

Hozumi was also prolific in dubbing foreign productions into Japanese. He was particularly well-known for his long association with the voice of American actor Christopher Lloyd. He dubbed Lloyd's iconic role as Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown in the TV Asashi editions of the Back to the Future film series and continued to voice the actor in numerous other films and television series for decades. His extensive dubbing filmography also includes providing Japanese voices for actors like Eli Wallach and for characters in films such as Alien, Speed, and The Godfather.
