Nair Amorim is a Brazilian actress and voice actress, recognized as one of the most prominent voices in Brazilian dubbing. Born Nair Amorim Leite in Rio de Janeiro on January 27, 1933, she began her artistic career in the 1950s on radio and television before transitioning to dubbing in the 1960s.
In the realm of anime and animated series, Amorim has voiced several notable characters. She is the voice of Esposa de Noé in the series In The Beginning - The Bible Stories. In the anime Kashi no Ki Mokku, also known as Pinocchio: The Series, she voiced the character Fada Madrinha, also referred to as Fada do Carvalho. Her work also includes the role of Estrelita in the classic anime series Prince Planet. Her other anime credits include roles in Corrector Yui, Ghost Stories, Little Witch Academia, Mirmo Zibang!, Sonic X, and Speed Racer.
While her work in anime is extensive, Amorim is perhaps best known for her long-running roles in Western animation and live-action dubbing. She was the definitive Portuguese voice of Velma Dinkley in the various Scooby-Doo productions for many years and was the first voice of Lisa Simpson in the Brazilian version of The Simpsons for its initial seasons. She also voiced Wanda in The Fairly OddParents and Eliza Thornberry in The Thornberrys.
