Domício Costa was a highly influential Brazilian actor and voice actor, born Domício da Costa Santos Filho in Rio de Janeiro on December 2, 1928. His extensive career spanned over seven decades, beginning in radio and transitioning to become one of the most recognized voices in Brazilian dubbing.

Costa's career began in 1941 as a child actor on Rádio Cruzeiro do Sul. He gained significant recognition as a radio actor during the golden age of Rádio Nacional, which he joined in 1944. For his work on Rádio Nacional, he received the Prêmio da Associação Brasileira de Rádio/Revista do Rádio in 1955 and was named Best Radio Actor by Revista Radiolândia in 1959. Beyond acting, he also worked as a composer in the 1950s and later in television and theater.

He entered the dubbing industry in 1958, working with major studios like Herbert Richers, Cinecastro, TV Cinesom, Delart, and many others. His voice became a staple in animation and anime dubbing in Brazil. Among his numerous roles in anime, he is credited with voicing Moisés, Profeta, and Samuel in In The Beginning - The Bible Stories; General Hoisens in Yūsei Kamen; Komposai in Shōnen Ninja Kaze no Fujimaru; Gepeto in Kashi no Ki Mokku; Prefeito (Mayor) in Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z; Adja Baba in Prince Planet; Doppo Orochi in Grappler Baki: The Ultimate Fighter; O Rei and Satã in Princess Knight; and Drácula in Dracula: Sovereign Of The Damned.

His dubbing work extended far beyond anime. He was the iconic voice of Dick Vigarista (Dick Dastardly) and Muttley in Corrida Maluca (Wacky Races), Eustácio (Eustace Bagge) in Coragem, o Cão Covarde (Courage the Cowardly Dog), and the Prefeito (Mayor) in As Meninas Superpoderosas (The Powerpuff Girls). He also voiced characters in major films, including Lord Voldemort in the first Harry Potter film and characters in various live-action movie dubs. His narration for the documentaries of Jacques Cousteau was so highly regarded that Cousteau himself sent Costa a handwritten letter praising his work.

Domício Costa passed away in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro on March 5, 2016, at the age of 87. His legacy is that of a foundational figure in Brazilian voice acting, whose versatile voice brought to life a vast array of characters for generations of viewers.
