Brian Granveldt

Description
Brian Granveldt is the pseudonym used by Matthew Brian Greenfield, an American producer, scriptwriter, director, and voice actor primarily known for his extensive work in the English-language localization of Japanese anime. Born on January 12, 1965, Greenfield is a foundational figure in the industry, having co-founded the influential production company A.D. Vision (ADV Films) in 1992. He adopted the name Brian Granveldt specifically for his voice acting credits, distinguishing this facet of his career from his more prominent roles as a producer and director at ADV.

In his voice acting capacity as Brian Granveldt, he is known for several roles in anime dubbed by ADV Films. He voiced the character Shunichi Sugishita in the original video animation series Blue Seed Beyond, the 2003 sequel to the Blue Seed television series. His work on the Blue Seed franchise extended to the original television series as well, where he provided the English voice for Shunichi Sugishita in episodes such as Aratama and Yamato yo mahoroba, nageki no wakasa, and also voiced other minor characters like a Cat Monster and a Gang Member. Another of his notable voice roles is Grewcica, a cyborg antagonist in the English dub of the 1993 original video animation Battle Angel. In this production, his involvement was multifaceted; in addition to voicing Grewcica under the Granveldt name, he also served as the producer, co-ADR director, and screenwriter for the English version.

These roles exemplify a recurring pattern in his career, where his work as a voice actor was often intertwined with his production and directorial duties on the same projects. For instance, while providing voices for the English adaptation of Blue Seed, he also acted as the ADR director for that version. His primary legacy in the anime industry, however, stems from his executive role at ADV Films, where he was instrumental in producing and bringing a vast catalog of titles, such as Neon Genesis Evangelon, to North American audiences. After ADV ceased active acquisitions in 2009, Greenfield continued to write and produce English dubs through his post-production studio, Seraphim Digital, for companies like Sentai Filmworks.
