Joan Crosas

Description
Joan Crosas is a Spanish actor and singer recognized for his extensive work in theatre, film, television, and dubbing. Born on November 11, 1947, in Santa María de Corcó, Barcelona, he initially pursued music, studying at the Conservatory of the Liceu and spending fifteen years as a member of the Catalan music group Esquirols. This background in music and pedagogy preceded his entry into the world of dubbing in Barcelona, where he became known for providing the Catalan and Spanish voices for actors such as Morgan Freeman and Patrick Stewart, in addition to working as a dubbing director.

Within the realm of anime, Crosas is noted for his contributions to Catalan-language dubs of various films and series. His roles in this field are diverse, often encompassing authoritative or villainous characters. He voiced the character Dimoni Negre in the film Taro the Dragon Boy. In the space opera series Space Pirate Captain Harlock, he lent his voice to Doctor Zero. His work in the mecha genre includes the role of Capità Tsukikage in the movie Space Warrior Baldios and the character Dennis Lone in the OVA Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II: The Movie. He also took on roles in more mature-themed animations, such as Suikakuju in Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend and Mr. Shadow in Wicked City.

His filmography extends to a wide array of other anime projects dubbed into Catalan. These include the role of Porco Rosso in the Studio Ghibli film of the same name, Vega in Street Fighter II V, and various characters in films like Porquet in Dr. Slump & Arale-chan and Kongfighter in Doraemon the Movie: Nobita in the Robot Kingdom. While he has received significant recognition for his theatrical performances, including a Premio de la Unión de Actores for his role in Sweeney Todd and a Premio Max for My Fair Lady, his extensive dubbing work represents a substantial part of his long and varied career as a performer.
