Tonino Accolla was an influential Italian voice actor and dubbing director, born Antonio Accolla on 6 April 1949 in Syracuse, Italy. He passed away on 14 July 2013, in Rome, at the age of 64. His career in performance began in the early 1970s, with work in theatre, radio, and television, before he transitioned into voice acting and dubbing. By the end of the decade, he had entered the dubbing industry, and in 1982, he became an exclusive voice actor for the newly formed Gruppo Trenta, a pivotal move that would define his professional trajectory.

Accolla is widely celebrated for his extensive work in dubbing live-action films, most notably as the official Italian voice of actor Eddie Murphy for over twenty-five years, from Murphy's film debut in 1982 until 2009. He also provided the Italian voices for numerous other Hollywood stars in various films, including Kenneth Branagh, Tom Hanks, Mickey Rourke, Jim Carrey, and Gary Oldman. His dubbing of Kenneth Branagh in the film Henry V earned him the prestigious Nastro d'Argento award for best dubbing in 1991.

In the realm of animation, Accolla left an indelible mark on Italian audiences. He was the long-standing Italian voice of Homer Simpson in the animated sitcom The Simpsons, a role he performed from the show's debut in Italy until his death in 2013. He also voiced beloved characters in numerous animated feature films, including Timon in The Lion King and The Lion King 1½, Mike Wazowski in Monsters, Inc., and Mushu in Mulan II and the House of Mouse series. In addition to his voice work, he served as the dubbing director for the Italian versions of many films and for the majority of episodes of The Simpsons up to its twenty-third season.

Regarding his work specifically within anime and animated productions outside of the major U.S. studios, Accolla contributed to several titles. As noted, he voiced the character of Sigfrido in the film Swan Lake. His other anime voice roles include the character Robert in Kinpatsu no Jeanie, Ryu in Machine Hayabusa, Andrea in Paris no Isabelle, and he provided the voice for Goemon Ishikawa in the first Italian dubbing of the film Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. He was also the voice of the title character in the animated series Tiramolla Adventures.
