Jürgen Kluckert was a renowned German actor and voice actor, celebrated for his extensive work in dubbing and radio plays. Born on December 29, 1943, in Groß Nossin, Poland, he passed away on August 16, 2023, at the age of 79. He completed his acting education at the prestigious Staatliche Schauspielschule Ernst Busch in East Berlin and began his career dubbing films for the Deutsche Film AG, also performing for twelve years as a permanent ensemble member at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater. In 1980, he left East Germany and subsequently focused more on voice acting in the West.

Kluckert's voice is familiar to German audiences from a vast array of roles. He was particularly well-known as the long-standing German voice of Hollywood stars such as Morgan Freeman and Chuck Norris, as well as Danny Glover, James Brolin, and Ernie Hudson. Following the death of colleague Edgar Ott in 1994, Kluckert took over several iconic roles, most notably the voice of the beloved elephant Benjamin Blümchen in the popular German audio series and the character Earl Sinclair from the TV series Die Dinos.

His work extended prominently into animation and anime. For a younger audience, he was the definitive German voice of Mr. Eugene H. Krabs in the long-running series SpongeBob SquarePants from 2002 until his death. In the realm of anime, he voiced several characters. He is known for his role as the antagonist and anti-hero König Dedede in the anime series Kirby: Right Back At Ya!. His other anime credits include the roles of Hokusai Katsushika in the film Miss Hokusai, Keita Saeki in the film Harmony, and Hokuto in Metal Fight Beyblade VS Taiyō Shakunetsu no Shinryakusha. He also contributed his voice as the narrator for the Fairy Tail anime series and provided voices for video games such as League of Legends.

Jürgen Kluckert's deep and affable voice left a significant mark on German dubbing and audio entertainment, making him one of the country's most prolific and cherished voice actors.
