Pep Torrents was a Spanish actor renowned for his extensive work in dubbing, particularly in the Catalan language, and he contributed significantly to bringing anime characters to Spanish audiences. Born Josep Torrents i Garcia on September 3, 1942, in Sabadell, Barcelona, he began his acting career in theatre in 1968 before transitioning to dubbing in 1983. He passed away on March 3, 2011.

Torrents' voice became well-known to anime fans in Spain through his many roles in Catalan-language dubs. He voiced the iconic role of Capità Harlock in the classic series Space Pirate Captain Harlock. He also took on the role of the villainous Vega in the animated film Harmagedon. In the cyberpunk OVA Cyber City Oedo 808, he provided the voice for Juzo Hasegawa, the stern commanding officer of the Cyber Police.

His work in anime was prolific and spanned a wide variety of series and films. His notable credits in Catalan dubs include the role of Count Cagliostro in Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro and the narrator for both Record of Lodoss War and its sequel, Chronicles of the Heroic Knight. He voiced Hans George Schuwald in the Spanish dub of Monster, The Claw in GUNxSWORD, and Sembei Norimaki in the first Catalan dub of Dr. Slump & Arale-chan. His other anime credits include performances in Ninja Scroll, Serial Experiments Lain, Planetes, Inuyasha, and many more, demonstrating his range and constant presence in the industry.

Beyond his acting, Torrents also contributed as a dubbing director. He directed the Catalan-language dubs for projects such as the Space Pirate Captain Harlock TV series, the film Corpse Bride, and the television series Yes, Minister.

While he was widely recognized as the regular Catalan voice for Hollywood stars like Al Pacino and Charles Bronson, his extensive body of work in anime dubbing forms a significant part of his legacy, introducing Catalan-speaking audiences to a vast array of characters and stories.
