Serge Bourrier was a French actor primarily known for his extensive work in dubbing, particularly for Japanese anime series. Born on June 6, 1931, in Noisy-le-Sec, France, he initially pursued a career in theater before transitioning to voice acting. Over his long career, he became a highly recognizable voice in French animation and live-action dubbing, also taking on roles as a dialogue director. He passed away in Paris on December 27, 2017, the day before his 86th birthday.

Bourrier's voice became iconic for French audiences through several major anime series. He is perhaps best known for providing the French voice of Shun, the Andromeda Bronze Saint, in the cult classic series Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque (Saint Seiya). His involvement with the series was extensive, as he also voiced numerous other characters throughout its run, including Julian Solo, who is the human form of Poseidon, Siegfried of Dubhe, and the Grand Pope. He later returned to the universe of Saint Seiya to voice the character Grand Pope Sage in the 2009-2011 series Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas. Another significant role was as the narrator for the Dragon Ball GT series, as well as voicing characters in several Dragon Ball films, such as Tsuru Sennin in Dragon Ball: L'Aventure mystique and the general Red in Dragon Ball: L'Armée du Ruban Rouge. His anime voice credits also include Gemma Vincent and Ernestin in Ranma ½, Simon in Alvin et les Chipmunks, and Tex Hex in Bravestarr.

Beyond anime, Bourrier lent his voice to a wide array of characters in American animated series. He was the first French voice of Stratos in Les Maîtres de l'univers and voiced multiple characters in Transformers, including Alpha Trion and Dr. Fujiyama. He also contributed to series like SilverHawks, where he voiced Blue Grass and Windhammer, and later took on the role of Filburt in Rocko's Modern Life.

In addition to animation, Serge Bourrier was active in dubbing live-action films and television series. His film dubbing includes roles in Running Man as Damon Killian, Bloodsport as Helmer, and Robin des Bois: Prince des voleurs as the Scribe. On television, he was the French voice for characters in popular series such as Jack Lee in Santa Barbara, Matt Fielding Sr. in Melrose Place, and Dr. George Bullard in the long-running series Inspecteur Barnaby. His work also extended to video games, where he voiced characters like Premier Enchanteur Irving in Dragon Age: Origins, the counselor Elliot Swann in Doom 3, and Sebastian, the butler, in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
