Elle Deets
Description
The name Elle Deets is a pseudonym used by the acclaimed American voice actress Laura Bailey for select voice roles in anime dubbing. Under this alias, she is notably recognized for providing the voice of the angel Sabato in the English language versions of the anime series Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan Second and Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan.
Laura Bailey began her voice acting career in the late 1990s at Funimation Entertainment (now Crunchyroll) in Texas after being discovered in a college theatre production. Her first major role was as the young Trunks in the company's dub of Dragon Ball Z. She quickly became a prolific voice for the studio, taking on leading roles in numerous anime series. Some of her most prominent early parts include the optimistic Tohru Honda in Fruits Basket, the villainous Lust in Fullmetal Alchemist, and the title character in the English adaptation of Shin-Chan. Her work during this period also included voice directing and line producing on several projects, such as Gunslinger Girl and Kodocha.
The role of Sabato in the Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan OVAs, credited to Elle Deets, represents a part of her extensive anime filmography from the mid-2000s. In the series, Sabato is another angel from the future who is tasked with protecting the protagonist, though her efforts are largely unsuccessful and comedic.
Beyond her work in anime, Laura Bailey has built an extraordinarily successful career in video game voice acting and animation. Her video game credits are vast and include iconic characters such as Rayne in the BloodRayne series, Rise Kujikawa in Persona 4, Chun-Li in multiple Street Fighter titles, Serah Farron in Final Fantasy XIII, and the title角色 in Catherine. She has also voiced Mary Jane Watson in the Marvel's Spider-Man video games and Kait Diaz in the Gears of War series. Her performance as Abby Anderson in The Last of Us Part II earned her widespread critical acclaim, including a BAFTA Award for Best Performer in a Leading Role and The Game Award for Best Performance.
She is also a founding member and cast member of the popular Dungeons & Dragons web series Critical Role, where she voices characters like Vex'ahlia and Jester Lavorre, and serves as an executive producer on its associated projects.
