Alice Fulks
Description
Alice Claire Fulks is an American voice and stage actress recognized for her work in English-language dubs of anime series, particularly during the mid-2000s. Her entry into voice acting came through an introduction to ADR director Steven Foster at ADV Films, who subsequently cast her in her first role as the Countess of Werdenberg in the 2003 anime series Gilgamesh. This performance opened the door to further opportunities in the industry.
Fulks is perhaps best known for her portrayal of the lead character, Mylene Hoffman, also known as agent 009-1, in the 2006 anime series 009-1. This role placed her at the center of the series' English adaptation, and her performance as the cyborg spy was noted by reviewers. In addition to this prominent part, she accumulated a range of credits in various anime titles dubbed by ADV Films and other studios during this period. Her other voice roles include Natsumi Iriya in Air Gear, Dr. Elizabeth Xander in Appleseed Ex Machina, Mayumi Minegishi in Best Student Council, Akane in Ghost Stories, Empress Elizaveta of Russia in Le Chevalier D'Eon, Hannah in Pumpkin Scissors, and Isabelle Girardot in Red Garden. Her work frequently involved collaborations with the pool of voice talent associated with the Texas-based ADV Films at the time.
Beyond her anime voice work, Fulks appeared as a host for the American Anime Awards ceremony, which was presented at the New York Comic Con in 2007. Her career in front of the microphone represents a specific period of anime localization in North America. Subsequently, she transitioned to work behind the camera, relocating to Los Angeles, California, where she founded and serves as the creative director for a video production company named A*Light Picture.
