Gilbert Mack was an American actor and voice actor, born in New York City on November 3, 1912. His career spanned several decades and various entertainment media before his death on December 5, 2005. He was a versatile performer whose early career included work as a vaudevillian, a singer, and a character actor in Yiddish theater. He also established a significant presence in old-time radio, with appearances on numerous classic programs such as Suspense, Dick Tracy, and The Inner Sanctum. He later transitioned to television, appearing in live-action series like Naked City and Car 54, Where Are You?.

In the realm of animation and voice work, Mack became prominently known for his contributions to the English dubs of Japanese anime series and films during the 1960s and beyond. He was a member of Titan Productions, a New York-based troupe of voice actors responsible for dubbing many Japanese shows for American television. Through this work, he provided voices for a wide array of characters. Among his most recognized anime roles are Pero, the heroic mouse, in the 1969 feature film Puss 'n Boots and the villainous Grunwald, the demon of ice, in the landmark 1968 animated film Horus: Prince of the Sun. In the English adaptation of Horus: Prince of the Sun, his voice work was extensive, reportedly covering not only Grunwald but also several other characters such as Ganko the blacksmith and Hols' father.

His voice acting credits from this period are extensive. He voiced characters in other notable anime series brought to the US, including Caccitore in Astro Boy, Pauley Cracker in Kimba the White Lion, Dick Strong in Gigantor, and the impish Mr. Mxyzptlk in The New Adventures of Superman. He also contributed to religious anime series produced in the early 1980s, providing voices for characters in Superbook and The Flying House.

Beyond his work in anime, Gilbert Mack had a prolific career voicing characters in numerous animated shorts and series. He provided voices for Famous Studios theatrical cartoons, including characters like Wimpy in several Popeye the Sailor shorts and the goat in The Hungry Goat. He also voiced the title character in the early children's television series Johnny Jupiter. His versatility extended to audio recordings, where he narrated children's records and portrayed various Hanna-Barbera characters for Little Golden Records. Mack also lent his distinctive voice to English-dubbed versions of Italian films, including the Spaghetti Westerns Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More. Through this diverse body of work, Gilbert Mack established himself as a familiar and busy presence in American voice acting during the mid-20th century.
