Born on February 10, 1979, in Hialeah, Florida, his career is rooted in a professional musical background, having trained in music and sound design, which led him to work as a composer and drummer for the rock band Falseta. This musical foundation facilitated his entry into the dubbing industry, where he began by performing singing voices for the Miami-based dub of the children's series LazyTown, providing vocals for characters such as Sportacus and Robbie Rotten. He is affiliated with the dubbing studio The Kitchen Inc., where he works as a voice actor and serves as a director for anime, animation, and musical projects in both English and Spanish.

Bernal is most widely known for his prominent roles in the anime series My Hero Academia. He voices the explosive hero Katsuki Bakugo in the main series and its film My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes' Mission, a role for which he has become particularly well-known among Spanish-speaking audiences. He also provides the voice for the primary antagonist Tomura Shigaraki, having taken over the role during the series' production. His involvement with the franchise extends beyond acting, as he also directs the Spanish-language dubbing for the series. In an interview, Bernal has noted the personal significance of these roles, describing Bakugo as a cathartic character to perform and expressing admiration for the complexity of characters like Endeavor.

Beyond My Hero Academia, his anime voiceography includes a range of other significant characters. He voices the eccentric and dangerous Cutthroat in the cyberpunk action series Akudama Drive. He is also heard as Jirō Tomitake in the horror anime Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU. His other anime credits include Tadayuki Shimazu in Orient, Nito in Pokémon Journeys, and various additional voices for series such as One Piece and Komi Can't Communicate.

In addition to his work in anime, Bernal has an extensive body of work in Western animation and live-action dubbing. He is a prolific voice actor for the Spanish-language adaptation of South Park, taking on numerous roles including Timmy Burch, Scott Malkinson, and Tweek's father Richard Tweak, in addition to directing the show's musical elements. He also voices Hank in the animated series Talking Tom and Friends. His work for live-action series includes voicing Ryan Sinclair and the Daleks in Doctor Who for its Spanish dub.

Bernal's contributions to the dubbing industry have been recognized through his participation as a guest at major conventions. He was a featured guest at Otakon 2023 and has been invited to events such as Animate Miami as a representative of The Kitchen studio. His work is characterized by a combination of vocal performance and technical expertise, directing dubs for major clients including Funimation, BBC, and Nickelodeon.
