Eric Flynn
Description
Eric Flynn was a British actor and singer who also performed voice work for English-language dubs of anime series and films in the 1990s. Born on December 13, 1939, on Hainan Island, China, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and built a substantial career in British television, film, and musical theatre over several decades. His live-action credits included appearances in the television series Doctor Who and The Avengers, the film Empire of the Sun, and stage productions such as Evita and The Sound of Music.
In the latter part of his career, Flynn contributed voices to a number of anime projects dubbed in the United Kingdom. He was part of a cast that recorded at CTV Sound Studios in Cardiff, Wales, for Manga UK during the late 1990s. His roles in this field were primarily for original video animations released directly to home video.
Flynn's voice acting credits include the role of Joe in Makyū Senjō 2 and Joe Takagami in Dark Warrior, the English title for the same series. He also voiced Shuranosuke Sakaki in the 1990 OVA Sword for Truth and took on multiple roles in Urotsukidōji III: Return of the Overfiend Director's Edition, where he is credited as an Air Force Pilot in the first episode and as Buju in episodes one and two. Additional anime voice roles include Captain in Genocyber, Vaphreze in The Heroic Legend of Arslan, President Mimura in Tokyo Babylon, and Bloody Charlie in Vampire Wars. Eric Flynn passed away on March 4, 2002, at his home in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
