Jay Benedict was an American actor based in the United Kingdom who became a notable voice in English-language anime dubs during the 1980s and 1990s. He was one of a small group of actors frequently called upon for anime productions in London during this period, contributing to many early releases from companies like Manga Entertainment and Kiseki.

His anime voice roles include Leonardi Medici Bundle in the feature film GoShogun: The Time Étranger and Asura in the original video animation series Angel Cop. Additional English dub credits include Captain Napolipolita in Project A-ko, Shiro Hagen in the puppet series Super Space Machine X Bomber, and uncredited parts in series such as Cyber City Oedo 808 and Mad Bull 34.

Beyond his on-screen performances, he contributed to the broader field of English-language adaptation and production. Later in his career, he founded the ADR service company Sync or Swim with his wife, actress Phoebe Scholfield, through which they provided post-production sound services for projects including the television series Downton Abbey.
