Bob Sherman

Bob Sherman was an American-born actor and dramaturge who provided voices for English-language dubs of several anime productions in the 1990s, primarily for the distributor Manga Entertainment in the United Kingdom. Born Robert Sherman on November 16, 1940, in Redwood City, California, he had an extensive career in film and television, appearing in productions such as The Spy Who Loved Me, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, and Hellboy, and was perhaps best known for his role as CIA station chief Jeff Ross in the British television series The Sandbaggers. He passed away in London on August 30, 2004.
Sherman's work in anime voice acting is documented in a handful of roles from this period. He is credited as the voice of Juzo Hasegawa in the English dub of the cyberpunk OVA series Cyber City Oedo 808. In this 1990 series, Hasegawa is the police chief who recruits convicted criminals to serve in a special task force. He also provided the voice for the character Suguni Cuttnal in the 1996 Manga Entertainment UK dub of the 1985 anime film GoShogun: The Time Étranger. In the film, Cuttnal is a former antagonist and high-ranking member of a crime syndicate who becomes an ally to the protagonists.
Additional voice roles in anime include uncredited parts in the Patlabor franchise, specifically as a cop and the character Rock in the English version of the Patlabor movies, and as Yukihito Tsuge in Patlabor 2: The Movie. His other anime credits feature roles in Bounty Dog, Junk Boy, and the Lupin the 3rd special Bye Bye, Lady Liberty. His voice work was not limited to anime, as he also lent his voice to video games such as Heart of Darkness, Killzone, and Space Channel 5 Part 2.
