Akio Nakamura is a Japanese voice actor and stage actor born on March 3, 1960, in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. He is a graduate of the Nihon University College of Art, where he studied in the drama department. Nakamura began his performance career in the theater, joining the Bungakuza Research Institute in 1982 and making his stage debut in a production of Othello in 1983. He became a full-fledged member of the Bungakuza theater company in 1987 and has remained primarily active as a stage actor throughout his career.
In addition to his extensive stage work, Nakamura has built a career as a voice actor in anime and film. His most internationally renowned voice role is Kaonashi, or No-Face, in the Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away in 2001. In the realm of anime series, he is known for voicing the character Matthieu in the Eureka Seven franchise, including the 2005 television series, its 2009 sequel Eureka Seven: Rainbow满载, and the 2017 film Eureka Seven: Hi-Evolution 1. His other anime voice credits include a role in the 2004 television series Windy Tales.
