Maurizio Romano was an Italian voice actor known for his extensive work dubbing anime series and Hollywood films for the Italian market. Born in Cassino, Italy, on March 9, 1966, he was active in the dubbing industry from the 1990s until his untimely death in 2003. He was the older brother of voice actress Laura Romano.

Romano's career was heavily focused on voice dubbing, providing the Italian voices for a wide array of characters in both animated and live-action productions. He was particularly active in the world of anime, lending his voice to numerous series and films during a period when anime was gaining significant popularity in Italy. His filmography includes a diverse range of roles, from heroic pilots to comedic characters and antagonists.

Among his most recognized anime roles are those specified by the user. He voiced the character Mohikan in the original 1988 OVA series Dominion Tank Police. In the classic space opera The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, he was the Italian voice of the prodigy pilot Maximilian Genius, a character central to the series' storyline. He also took on the role of Randy Mclane, one of the two main characters in the 1996 OVA adaptation of the manga Fake.

Beyond these specific roles, Romano's anime dubbing credits were extensive. He voiced characters in major franchises such as Digimon, where he was the voice of Cyberdramon in Digimon Tamers, Agunimon in Digimon Frontier, and additional roles. His other notable anime work included providing the voice of 004 in the movie Cyborg 009 Gekijō Ban: Chō Ginga Densetsu, Tomo in the Fushigi Yugi OVAs, and roles in series like Burn Up Excess, Medabots, and Virtua Fighter.

In addition to his prolific anime career, Romano was also a familiar voice in Italian dubs of Western animation and live-action films. He was perhaps best known in Italy for being the voice of Lionel Hutz and Professor Frink in the early seasons of The Simpsons. His live-action dubbing work was equally varied, lending his voice to actors like Ben Affleck, John Leguizamo, and Jeremy Davies in various films, and he was the first Italian voice of Tuvok in the series Star Trek: Voyager.

Maurizio Romano's career was cut short when he died in a car crash near Milan on September 20, 2003, at the age of 37. Despite his relatively brief time in the industry, he left behind a substantial body of work that made a significant contribution to bringing international animation and film to Italian audiences.
