His career is characterized by a high volume of work, providing the German voice for numerous international stars and contributing to a wide array of anime titles.

Matt's foundational training and early career began in broadcasting. From 1983, he worked at Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) as a child speaker and later as an actor. He pursued higher education in theater, film, and television studies, as well as German studies and philosophy at the University of Cologne and the FernUniversity in Hagen. This academic background underpinned his transition into professional voice acting and dubbing, where he became active in the mid-1990s.

Beyond performing, Matt is a highly accomplished dialogue director and scriptwriter. He has written dialogue books and directed the German versions of major international films. Notably, his direction of the German synchronization for Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds earned him the Zuhörerpreis Silhouette in 2011 in the category of Best Film Synchronization Direction.
