Misato Murai

Description
Misato Murai is a Japanese voice actress born in Kanagawa Prefecture on October 2, 1995. Her interest in voice acting began during middle school, fostered by friendships with anime fans and a personal enjoyment of reading aloud in Japanese class. Although her high school teacher advised against it, she was determined to pursue this career. After graduating from high school, she trained at the Japan Narration Acting Institute and joined the talent agency I'm Enterprise in 2017. She left the agency at the end of June 2025 and has been working as a freelance voice actor since July of that year.

Murai's first professional experience in the industry was not a voice role but a video recording where she learned and performed the choreography for the song Matsuken Samba for an event. Her debut as a voice actor came with work in foreign language dubbing.

In anime, she has taken on a variety of supporting and main roles. She is the voice of Rei Izumi in the series Stand My Heroes: Piece of Truth and its related work, Stand My Heroes: Warmth of Memories. She also voices Kaine in the long-running series Kingdom. In Tribe Nine, she plays the character Minami Ōi, and in Peach Boy Riverside, she plays Todoroki. Her other notable anime roles include the carpenter Carrot in The Dungeon of Black Company and Yuzuki in Sing "Yesterday" for Me.

Beyond anime, Murai is active in other areas of voice work. She has participated in digital comic adaptations, providing voices for characters such as Yoshida Fumiya in Kocchi Muite! Miiko and Emeline in Royal Tailor. Her voice can also be heard in dubbed versions of foreign films and television series.

Murai has also built a presence in radio. In 2019, she started a radio program with fellow voice actress Tomoko Iida titled Iida Tomoko Murai Misato no Okyaku-sama o Yorokobasetai!. The pair also formed a guitar-playing unit named KANPAI in conjunction with the show. In 2020, she became a new assistant on the radio show Matsuoka Hamburger, hosted by voice actor Toshiyuki Morikawa.

She is known for having a husky voice, a trait that has drawn comparisons from colleagues to the voice of Miyuki Sawashiro.
