Michael Baral is a German actor and voice artist known for his extensive work in dubbing Japanese anime series and films into German. Born in 1981 in Pforzheim, Germany, he pursued his passion for performance at the Berufsfachschule Schauspiel München, a vocational school for acting in Munich, from 2003 to 2006. Following his training, Baral built a substantial career in German film and television, appearing in numerous popular series such as Lindenstraße, Die Rosenheim-Cops, and SOKO München, as well as international film productions like A Hologram for the King. Parallel to his on-screen work, he developed a prolific career as a voice actor, lending his voice to countless characters for German-language versions of films, television series, and video games.

In the realm of anime, Baral is recognized for his versatility, having voiced a wide array of characters. He is perhaps most notably associated with the role of the protagonist Kyon in the Haruhi Suzumiya franchise, providing the German voice for the character in both the television series The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and the feature film The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. Another significant early role was Tanda, the gentle herbalist in the fantasy series Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit.

His other prominent anime credits include the role of Tieria Erde in both seasons of Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Shinichirou Tamaki in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and its sequel, and Muneakira Yagyū in the Samurai Girls and Samurai Bride series. He has also voiced characters in a wide range of other popular series, such as Kazuma Numai in Haikyu!! LAND VS. AIR, Saneatsu in The Magnificent KOTOBUKI, Hayato Mikogami in Sekirei, Philip Lenore in Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond, and Senri Shiki in Vampire Knight. His role as Moutoku Sousou in Ikki Tousen: Dragon Destiny was another notable credit in the long-running action franchise.

Beyond his work in Japanese animation, Baral has achieved recognition for dubbing live-action roles, most notably as the German voice of actor Tom Hiddleston in his portrayal of Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His other prominent live-action dubbing includes Nacho Varga in Better Call Saul and Billy Russo in Marvel's The Punisher. Baral's talent extends to audiobook narration, for which he was awarded the prestigious German Audiobook Prize as Best Interpreter in 2018.
