The story follows teenager Kanemori Kousuke, a high school student who works as a secret agent for an international spy network, using his computer skills to track criminals. The manga was adapted into a two-episode original video animation (OVA) produced by the studio J.C. Staff. The OVA was released in 1987 and directed by Jun'ichi Sakata, with Tadashi Tsukasa handling character designs.

Beyond High School Agent, Tanimura created numerous other manga series across various genres. The manga Tōryū Legend was adapted into a live-action film in 1995, and his series Immovable received an adaptation in 1996-1997. The manga Fudoh, which he wrote and illustrated beginning in 1991, was adapted into a series of live-action films released between 1996 and 1998.
