Yoroida

Description
Yoroida is the original creator of the manga series Kanagawa ni Sunderu Elf, also known as Kanagawa Elves or The Elves Living in Kanagawa. This work represents the primary public-facing credit for Yoroida as a manga author and illustrator.

Information on Yoroida's broader background as an individual creator is limited, but it has been reported that the manga artist resides in Sagamihara City in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. This local connection heavily informs the artistic identity of their notable work, which is described as a fantasy comedy filled with observations and humor specific to life in Kanagawa.

The manga Kanagawa ni Sunderu Elf began serialization on August 4, 2020, on the Pixiv Comic website under Micro Magazine's Comic Elmo label. As of March 2025, the series has been compiled into five tankōbon volumes. The story follows a community of elves who were forced to leave their hidden forest home after a forest fire two years prior to the narrative. Now displaced, these elves live ordinary lives among humans in various cities across Kanagawa Prefecture, with the plot centering on an elf from Yokohama and the human from Kawasaki who becomes his roommate.

The series achieved a notable industry milestone when it received two simultaneous live-action and anime adaptations announced in August 2025. A television drama adaptation premiered on September 30, 2025, on the tvk network within the program Neko no Hitai Hodo Wide, with Oolongta Yoshida writing and directing. A light anime television series adaptation followed, premiering on December 4, 2025, on the same network. The anime is produced by Imagica Infos and Imageworks Studio and directed by Yūji Umoto. In a statement regarding these adaptations, Yoroida expressed gratitude to the people of Kanagawa Prefecture for their support.

Prior to the success of Kanagawa ni Sunderu Elf, Yoroida contributed to the short story collection Rakugaki Gakugeikai in 2019, which featured eleven original short stories from eleven different authors. However, the 2020 manga remains the definitive work establishing Yoroida as an original creator in the anime and manga industry. The work's significance lies in its hyper-localized humor and its successful transition from a web manga to a multi-platform media franchise, including both live-action and animated formats.
