TV-Series
Description
A forest fire has destroyed the homeland of the elves, forcing them to relocate. Their destination is not a hidden magical realm, but the very real and modern Kanagawa Prefecture in Japan. Here, elves live openly among humans, having adapted to contemporary life in cities like Yokohama, Yokosuka, Chigasaki, and Sagamihara. They navigate train stations, argue about local trivia, and run landscaping businesses, all while being immortal beings with a very different sense of time.

The story centers on the high-spirited and self-important Elf from Yokohama, who carries himself as if he rules over all of Kanagawa, and the perpetually exasperated Human from Kawasaki, a perfectly ordinary young man who shares a bloodline with elves. For various reasons, the human cannot just leave the troublesome elf alone, leading to a comedic duo dynamic filled with witty banter, local disses about Kawasaki, and the human’s endless concern for an immortal who still struggles with things like financial support from his uncle.

The series expands to feature a diverse cast of fantastical beings, each deeply rooted in their specific locale. The Elf from Yokosuka looks like a fashionable young man but is actually an ancient grandpa who remembers the arrival of Commodore Perry’s black ships as if it were yesterday. The Elf from Sagamihara is a certified landscaping technician who can talk to plants and drives an Isuzu Elf truck. Other residents include a party-loving Elf from Chigasaki, a former delinquent Elf from Hiratsuka who attends a Shonan high school, and a Dark Elf from Noge who enjoys gambling and drinking. Even the Orc from Machida makes appearances, maintaining a hostile yet relatable rivalry with the Yokohama Elf while working hard at a black company.

The series is structured around episodic adventures that highlight both fantasy comedy and genuine local charm. An early narrative follows the Yokohama Elf and Kawasaki Human as they get lost in the famously labyrinthine Yokohama Station while searching for an English textbook at the Yurindo bookstore. Another significant arc sees the Sagamihara Elf trying to find a new home to protect a cherished oak tree, only to realize a fundamental misunderstanding about his own finances. A "Shonan Incident" arc brings together multiple elves for a fierce and comedic debate over which cities truly belong to the Shonan region. The human protagonist later gains the ability to see fairies after catching a cold, leading him to seek help from a Half-Elf who runs a general store in Yokohama Chinatown, and a flashback reveals how the Yokohama Elf broke his people's herbivorous dietary traditions after becoming hooked on a famous local shumai bento box.
